Please read this Medical Disclaimer carefully before using the Book a Scan website or booking platform.
Book a Scan helps patients access private diagnostic imaging through independent imaging providers.
We are a booking intermediary. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
1. We Are Not a Medical Provider
Book a Scan is a private diagnostic imaging booking platform.
We are not a medical practice, radiology service, hospital, clinic or healthcare provider.
We do not employ clinicians, radiologists, radiographers, sonographers, consultants or reporting clinicians.
We do not provide clinical, diagnostic or medical services of any kind.
Booking platform
We help arrange access to independent imaging providers.
Not a clinic
We do not directly provide scans, reports or clinical care.
Independent providers
Imaging services are delivered by separate third-party providers.
All imaging services booked through our platform are provided by independent, accredited third-party imaging providers.
Book a Scan acts solely as a booking intermediary.
2. No Medical Advice
Nothing on the Book a Scan website, booking platform, or in any communication from us constitutes medical advice.
Nothing from us should be treated as a clinical opinion, diagnosis, or recommendation to undergo any particular scan or treatment.
Information about scan types, clinical indications and preparation is provided for general informational purposes only.
It is not a substitute for professional medical advice from a qualified clinician who knows your individual circumstances.
Speak to a clinician if you are unsure.
If you are unsure whether a scan is appropriate, or if you have concerning symptoms, please consult your GP or a qualified clinician before booking.
3. Scan Results Are Not a Diagnosis
Imaging results provided by independent providers are for informational and clinical review purposes.
A scan report does not, by itself, constitute a diagnosis.
Results must be interpreted in the context of your full clinical history.
This should be done by a qualified clinician, such as your GP, consultant or specialist.
If your scan results raise concerns, please seek clinical advice promptly.
Do not delay seeking medical advice on the basis of a scan result alone.
4. Emergency Situations
Book a Scan is not an emergency service.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 999 immediately or attend your nearest Accident and Emergency department.
Do not use this platform to seek urgent medical assessment.
You should seek urgent help if symptoms are severe, rapidly worsening, or potentially life-threatening.
5. Clinical Suitability
Completing a booking enquiry through our platform does not guarantee that a scan is clinically appropriate for you.
All bookings are subject to clinical review and suitability assessment where required.
We reserve the right to decline or redirect a booking.
This may happen where:
- The scan type is not appropriate
- Safety checks cannot be satisfied
- The provider cannot accept the referral
- More clinical information is needed
- A different clinical pathway is required
- An urgent pathway may be more appropriate
Clinical safety takes priority over booking convenience.
Some bookings may need referral checks, provider approval or additional medical information.
6. Ionising Radiation
Some scans available through our platform use ionising radiation.
This includes X-rays, CT scans, DEXA scans and mammograms.
These scans are only performed when clinically justified.
Patients who are pregnant, or may be pregnant, must inform the provider before booking or attending.
Clinical justification checks are carried out as part of the booking process for scans involving ionising radiation.
Pregnancy and radiation safety are important.
You must tell the provider if you are pregnant, may be pregnant, or are unsure.
7. Limitation of Clinical Responsibility
Book a Scan does not accept clinical responsibility for imaging results.
We do not accept clinical responsibility for decisions made on the basis of imaging results.
We do not accept clinical responsibility for harm arising from imaging services provided by independent providers.
Clinical responsibility rests with the independent imaging provider.
Where applicable, clinical responsibility may also rest with the referring clinician.
8. Regulatory Status
Independent imaging providers accessible through our platform are regulated by the Care Quality Commission or equivalent body.
Book a Scan is not itself a regulated healthcare provider.
We do not operate the clinical premises or imaging equipment.
We do not supervise the clinical delivery of scans or reporting.
9. Patient Responsibility
You are responsible for providing accurate and complete information.
This includes information about:
- Your symptoms
- Your medical history
- Medication
- Allergies
- Pregnancy status
- Implants or devices
- Previous scans or investigations
- The reason for requesting the scan
Incomplete or inaccurate information may affect your booking.
It may also affect safety, suitability, or provider acceptance.
10. Follow-Up After Results
You are responsible for arranging clinical follow-up after receiving your scan results.
This is particularly important if the report identifies an abnormality or recommends further investigation.
Book a Scan does not provide ongoing clinical management.
You should discuss your results with your GP, consultant or another qualified clinician.
A scan is one part of clinical assessment.
Results should be interpreted alongside your symptoms, examination findings, medical history and other investigations.
